MODERN KINTSUGI WORKSHOP
Join us for a 3-hour informal, chat-led workshop exploring Modern Kintsugi, a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese art of repairing pottery with lacquer and precious metals.
Guided by the philosophy of Kintsugi, this workshop embraces imperfection and transformation. Using modern techniques that echo the traditional practice, which can take many weeks to complete, you’ll experience a mindful, hands-on repair process within a single session.
Focusing on precision and patience, you’ll choose from a range of metallic powders to personalise your piece. The session is relaxed and reflective, with space for conversation and creativity.
You’ll leave with a completed Kintsugi bowl to display in your home, so come ready to relax, create, and reflect.

Saturday 21st February
10.30am - 13.30pm
£50
coffee/tea and biscuits provided

Led by Jane MacFarlane a ceramic artist working with abandoned ceramics, exploring how objects carry the weight of time, memory, and the lives they've touched.
By highlighting imperfections and patina, her work highlights a place where the past and present can coexist, evoking memory, nostalgia and connection, reminding us that even the ordinary and discarded can hold deep meaning and potential. Her work invites reflection on the passage of time and the fleeting nature of life.
Her work process blends restoration techniques with craft pottery, bricolage sculpture, Modern Kintsugi and traditional gold joinery methods.
Jane MacFarlane holds a BA (hons) from Cardiff School of Art and Design and MA from Bath Spa University in Ceramics. She also holds a PTTLS teaching qualification.
