Bookbinding workshops for beginners. Create and take home a beautiful, handmade sketchbook, with watercolour paper made in Somerset. You will learn the basic skills and techniques of bookbinding, giving you the confidence to sew and bind books yourself at home. All materials and tools provided.
Bookbinding Workshop Tuesday 5th May 2026

Join illustrator Emily Wallis, for a fun and informal bookbinding workshop for beginners. Emily has a passion for books and an MA in Sequential Design and Illustration from the University of Brighton. Guided step by step, you’ll create a beautiful, handmade sketchbook using watercolour paper from St. Cuthbert’s Mill in Somerset. You will learn the basic skills and techniques of bookbinding, giving you the confidence to sew and bind books yourself at home. All materials, tools and refreshments will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or explore the many cafés in Wells. Emily lives in Somerset with her husband and their three boys. Her clients include Penguin, Macmillan and Scholastic and her books and greeting cards will be available to buy on the day. Workshop starts at 10am and ends approx. 3pm.
