Rebecca Barnard is based in Somerset and has an MA Fine Art (Dist.) from Falmouth School of Art. She is a member of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc) and a Network member of the RWA.
Rebecca Barnard's practice predominately incorporates intuitive abstract painting and organic sculpture. It can take the form of both multi media installations or single media projects.
Her concerns are focussed on the dance between balance and fragility; that teetering place we negotiate on a daily basis, and the unintended consequences of our actions. Her process and outcome reflect that fragile place where balance and chaos meet.
Rebecca Barnard lives in Somerset and has an MA Fine Art with Distinction from Falmouth School of Art. She is a member of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts and has exhibited widely with both solo and mixed shows in prestige galleries in London, Cambridge, Aldeburgh and Broadway. Her paintings are in private collections worldwide and she is regularly selected to show at a variety of open exhibitions including the Royal West of England Academy, the Society of Women’s Artists and the Bath Society of Artists.
Her practice is centred around intuitive, oil based abstract painting which focuses on the fragile threshold where order and disorder converge. Her paintings move between subtle evocations of place and pure abstraction, where practical and emotional decisions around palette, colour, form, and mark take centre stage. Colour is not only a structural tool but also a carrier of mood, memory, and meaning.
