Many people know papier mache from puppet making, or in helping children grease a balloon to make a lantern. But there are many more magical ways to use this wonderful sustainable material.

It’s been used for centuries to make beautiful objects; the Japanese and Korean Galleries at the V and A have some exquisite papier mache boxes and plates which are hundreds of years old. Papier mache is made of wood fibre, is very strong, and can be made from widely available recycled materials. By constructing a simple armature you can easily make a beautiful 3D sculptural object, with fantastic surface textures. Want to have a try? Then come to my papier mache workshop and have a go.

The workshops will run over 2 Saturdays: 13th and 20 May, 10.30 – 2.30pm, since papier mache objects need drying time in between the layers.
